The Word of the Lord: Reading the Bible in a Year – Continued

Last September, 2017, we began the uncovering the Bible book by book by exploring the stories of the Old and New Testaments. We will have covered the Old Testament, the four Gospels, and the Acts of the Apostles, and beginning on May 27 we will continue in the New Testament with the 21 Epistles and the Book of Revelation.

Christians find instruction, endurance, encouragement and hope through reading and meditating on Scripture (Romans 15:4). You may be wondering how we can cover Paul’s Letter to the Romans in 45 minutes in a Sunday School class. The simple answer is – we can’t. This is an overview and the value in this study is in gaining context as we later delve into the Books of the Bible in detail. This overview of the Bible helps us see that the Bible is a unified story. It is the story of God’s plan for the world fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

The study will be valuable for both experienced biblical scholars and beginners. The class will be led by Christ Church clergy and some gifted lay teachers. Please join us on Sunday mornings beginning on May 27 at 9:00 am Downtown in the Ascension Room and at 10:00 am at Christ Church South in the Great Hall.
