Youth Ministry Overview

The Youth of Christ Church

The Episcopal Youth Community (E.Y.C.) of Christ Church is a place where students currently in 5th-12th grade can grow in, and connect with, God through Christ. We deepen our relationships with our Lord and one another through games, theological discussion, study, fellowship, and breaking bread together. Whether it is Wednesday evening EYC, Sunday morning Christian education, Sunday evening EYC, or other events, E.Y.C. is a place for being oneself in a safe, fun, and loving environment. Mission is also a very important and central aspect of our E.Y.C. time together. We are blessed to have wonderful sponsors and teachers who truly care about our kids, and who give freely of their time and talents. Contact Melanie Edwards at medwards@christchurchtyler.org with any questions on how to get involved in our wonderful programs.

Middle School and Senior High E.Y.C.

Our youth community is built around three age-specific groups for most programs, studies, activities, and trips.  Youth currently in 5th - 8th grades are placed in Junior High E.Y.C. and all students in 9th-12th grade are considered part of Senior High E.Y.C. Students in these grades, as well as their friends, are welcome to join us for any and every activty, program, or trip offered in our youth community.

Sunday Morning Christian Formation

Our Sunday morning program runs from 10:00-10:50 a.m. each Sunday throughout the school year at both our Downtown and South locations. During the summer, at Christ Church Downtown, Sunday School begins at 9:00 a.m. with worship services following at 10:00 and 10:05 a.m. Downtown E.Y.C. groups meet on the 4th floor of the Grelling-Spence building for a light breakfast and fellowship. Christ Church South E.Y.C. groups meet at the 'Cabins' located behind the pavillion.

Wednesday Nights

Wednesday night programming runs every Wednesday night throughout the school year (unless otherwise indicated on calendars and via email updates). All 5-12th grade students begin with an optional dinner at 6:00 p.m. on the 4th Floor of the Grelling-Spence building. Seperate age-specific group studies begin at 6:30p.m. and parents may pick up downstairs when we conclude at 7:30 p.m.

Past Projects

2019

March, 2019 was our 5th year traveling with our Sr. High youth to Corozal Town Belize. We are partnering with St. Paul's Angelican School to help further their mission and school. Our students and volunteers offered pver 1,200 hours worth of work as we remodeled picnic tables, playground equipments and storage rooms.

In June, 2019 our 7/8th graders headed to St. Vincent's House in Galveston to clean and offer assitance to the grounds that are utilized for welcoming the community as well as their education spaces.

Tyler Mission Week was once again a huge success with our youth offering 1875 hours worth of work towards PATH, St. Paul's Health Foundation, Keep Tyler Beautiful, and many other non-profit organizations throughout the community..
